About

Welcome,
I’m Kathleen Bartholomay.

Twin Cities Pianist
I’m thrilled that you have found me, and I welcome you to my site!

It’s wonderful to have a chance to tell you about what I love to do.  My connection with music runs deep and its impact on my life and the lives of others is a guiding force in my life.

When I perform my music becomes part of the whole – part of something greater than myself where the beauty of melody and harmony come through me.

I’ve witnessed countless times the power of music to celebrate a life-changing moment, to soothe an aching soul, to serve as a bridge from one reality to another, to mark a transition. I consider it an honor to contribute to the beauty and significance of your special moment and have been told that my presence is a gift to those who invite me to be part of their celebration.

Please read, listen and contact me about how I can work with you to create a meaningful occasion, one that reflects the personalities and nature of your life event.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Kathleen’s Background

I started playing the piano in Fargo, North Dakota when I was 5 years old and continued with lessons through high school participating in contests and recitals throughout those years.  I attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, then spent a year studying theology at a seminary.  I completed graduate school at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, Nebraska where I received my Master of Music degree in piano performance. While there, I accompanied for vocal and instrumental students’ lessons and recitals. Following graduate school, I formed the Opus Three Trio (flute, piano and cello), and for many years we performed for weddings, receptions and memorial services.

Since then, I’ve accompanied for students at area colleges here in the Twin Cities, taught adult beginner piano lessons, and accompanied the adult choir at Unity Church-Unitarian in St. Paul for 12 years.  I have played for many memorial services and weddings and have been on staff at Unity as the summer music coordinator for 17 years, where I work with lay worship leaders to plan services, finding music and musicians to enhance the service – a creative effort that I truly love.
